Ajanta and Ellora caves are amazingly carved into hillside rock caves attracts millions of people from the worldwide. Both are declared as UNESCO World Heritage site. These are situated near heritage city Aurangabad.
There are 34 caves at Ellora . The history of these caves is dating from between the 6th and 11th centuries AD. When it comes to Ajanta there are 29 caves which are dating back to between the 2nd century BC and 6th century AD.
The caves at Ajanta are associated with Buddhism, at the same time as the caves at Ellora are a mixture of Buddhist, Hindu and Jain. Funds for the construction of the caves were provided by various rulers of Deccan Plateau.
The most surprising thing about the Ajanta and Ellora caves is that they were crafted by hand, with only a hammer and chisel. We can’t even imagine how tough it was then. There are various cave complexes in India, but these are absolutely the most magnificent.

Lonar is named after the demon, Lonasura, and is ringed by fascinating temples, including one with erotic sculptures reminiscent of Khajuraho. We end the day with drive back to Hotel for Overnight Stay.
